Parallel Architect

Overview

The Parallel Architect is an AI-powered task orchestration agent designed for senior developers and technical founders managing large-scale features, migrations, or refactors. It intelligently breaks down complex engineering tasks into independent parallel workstreams, spawning multiple Claude Code sub-agents to work simultaneously while maintaining strict coordination and merge-conflict prevention. By automating the decomposition, branch strategy, and inter-task communication, this agent eliminates the coordination overhead of parallel development and accelerates time-to-completion for major refactoring initiatives.

How It Works

1. Analyze Repository Structure (GitHub) — The agent fetches detailed information about your repository, identifying all relevant files, modules, and dependencies involved in the task to understand the scope and complexity.
2. List Existing Branches (GitHub) — It checks all active branches to detect potential naming conflicts and understand the current branching landscape, ensuring new workstream branches won't clash with ongoing development.
3. Get Active Sprint Cycle (Linear) — The agent queries your Linear workspace to understand sprint priorities and team capacity, ensuring parallel workstreams fit within current commitments.
4. Architect Parallel Workstream Plan (Claude Opus 4.6) — Using advanced reasoning, the agent designs 3–5 independent sub-tasks optimized for parallel execution, defines interface contracts between workstreams, specifies integration sequencing, and generates a precise brief for each sub-agent with exact scope, success criteria, and "do not touch" constraints.
5. Create Workstream Branches (GitHub) — For each workstream, the agent automatically creates feature branches following naming convention , isolating parallel work.
6. Create Workstream Issues (Linear) — One Linear issue is created per workstream with the sub-agent brief embedded as the description, serving as the single source of truth for scope and acceptance criteria.
7. Create Coordination Page (Notion) — The agent scaffolds a central task coordination hub documenting the full parallelization plan, all workstream briefs, branch assignments, and integration checklist.
8. Add Progress Tracking Table (Notion) — A live-updating progress table is appended with columns for workstream, branch, status, blockers, and completion, enabling real-time visibility.
9. Post Kickoff to Engineering Channel (Slack) — A comprehensive kickoff message is posted to #engineering with the parallelization strategy, branch list, and direct link to the Notion coordination page, ensuring team alignment.
