How It Works

1. GitHub Webhook Trigger — Listens for merged pull requests on your repository and automatically initiates the documentation workflow
2. Fetch Repository Context — Retrieves your current README and existing documentation files from GitHub to understand the project structure
3. Analyze Merged PR — Lists the merged pull request details including title, description, diff, and linked issues for comprehensive context
4. Extract Issue Details — Fetches linked GitHub issues to understand the business context and requirements behind the code changes
5. Generate Documentation — Uses Claude Opus 4.6 to intelligently analyze the PR diff and generate: (a) Keep a Changelog entries categorized as Added/Changed/Fixed/Removed, (b) Updated README sections for modified modules or endpoints, (c) Structured API documentation with method, path, parameters, responses, and examples, (d) Migration notes and breaking change warnings
6. Create Draft Page — Creates a new review page in Notion to stage all generated documentation
7. Populate Draft Sections — Appends changelog entries, README updates, and API docs to the Notion page for human review
8. Slack Notification — Sends a message to your engineering channel with a link to the draft documentation for approval
9. Create Docs PR — Once approved, automatically opens a pull request with the generated documentation changes ready to merge
